Business Launch Plan
Service model, customer flow, operating structure, approved-campground strategy, pricing framework, and startup checklist.
A practical path into outdoor entrepreneurship
Choose a self-guided starter or a fully customized launch package built to help first-time entrepreneurs start small, control costs, and grow only after reservations prove demand.
Important: This is a business launch package. No camping gear, vehicle, permits, insurance, campground agreements, customers, or inventory are included.
The opportunity
The customer chooses an approved campground and requests a package and dates from the operator first. The operator places a 72-hour courtesy hold, the customer reserves the campground for the same dates, and both reservations are confirmed before the booking becomes final.
Guests bring their own food, beverages, bedding, clothing, and personal items. The operator earns service revenue from the preparation, delivery, equipment use, setup, takedown, and cleaning.
Real-world history
Custom Camps – Family Camping Service operated for approximately two seasons in the Lake County area of Northern California around 20 years ago.
The original service arrived before the guests, prepared a fully furnished campsite, supplied utility water and limited firewood when allowed, and returned for teardown. The business carried the insurance, permits, and licenses required at that time.
The operation closed after funding ran out during a difficult California economy. The modern package uses the founder’s experience while leaving the old forms, old pricing, and old materials behind.
What the buyer receives
Choose the level of help that fits your budget. The Full Launch includes customization and first-season guidance; the Starter Package provides the core system for a do-it-yourself launch.
Service model, customer flow, operating structure, approved-campground strategy, pricing framework, and startup checklist.
Startup estimates, one-camp equipment planning, package pricing, two-night minimum structure, booking economics, and operating assumptions.
A staged path from the first reservation to multiple campsite setups, with clear expansion triggers and reserve targets.
A customer-facing website built under the Full Launch buyer’s chosen business name, service area, pricing, and contact information.
Core website copy, package descriptions, what-guests-bring checklist, customer process, and frequently asked questions.
Up to twelve scheduled 30-minute remote sessions during the first six months after delivery. The Starter Package includes one 60-minute consultation.
Clear expectations
The buyer purchases and owns all tents, pads, mattresses, cots, chairs, coolers, stoves, cookware, water containers, safety supplies, storage, and transportation equipment. The buyer is also responsible for insurance, licensing, permits, campground permissions, taxes, and local legal compliance.
Two ways to get started
Both options provide the core campsite-setup model. The difference is how much customization and founder support the buyer receives.
Full Launch Package
$1,995
Payment plan begins with $500
Self-Guided Starter Package
$500
One-time payment
Custom website design, website revisions, full first-season support, and private post-purchase growth notes.
No equipment, customers, campground agreements, permits, insurance, revenue, or guaranteed results are included with either option.
Suggested customer pricing
Package pricing is per night with a two-night minimum. The customer reserves and pays for the campground separately, but only after the operator confirms a temporary hold on the same dates.
Camp for Two
$199 / night
Two-night minimum • $398 minimum
Camp for Four
$259 / night
Two-night minimum • $518 minimum
Pricing is a planning starting point, not a guarantee of demand or profitability. The buyer must adjust for local travel, labor, insurance, equipment, and market conditions.
50-State First Camp Project
The mission is to help practical, independent entrepreneurs build locally owned campsite-setup services without requiring a large traditional business investment.
Every operator uses their own business name, makes their own local decisions, purchases their own equipment, and remains responsible for all permits, insurance, campground permissions, taxes, and operations.
First-season growth plan
Expansion is tied to completed reservations and cash reserves—not optimism.
Operate one four-person setup. Test the campground list, setup checklist, travel time, cleaning system, customer communication, and damage procedures.
Add a second setup only after the first reservations run smoothly, two useful reviews are collected, and enough cash remains after purchasing gear.
Operate two setups consistently. Add a third only when overlapping demand is being turned away and a reserve remains after expansion.
Expand to three or four setups only after proving multi-camp weekends and arranging dependable part-time help for delivery, setup, and takedown.
Who this may fit
This is not passive income. The owner must be dependable, organized, physically capable of loading and setting up camping equipment, and comfortable communicating with guests and campground managers.
